A B2B Federation is a network of services that businesses can offer to each other in order to enable them to work together with maximum effectiveness and efficiency. Businesses may federate to collaborate with partners, work closer with vendors and suppliers, provide value-added services in combination with other businesses, etc.
The premise behind federations is to allow users from one or more organization (identity providers) to easily be able to use the services other organization(s) (service providers). There are two issues central to establishing federations:
